HYLIFT UNDERSINK UNITS

Constant banging from unit once pump turns off

Possible Cause:

water air separation due to discharge pipework run

Solution:

install gate/isolation valve on discharge of tank and close to 50%

Pump constantly running

Possible Cause:

start float switch caught up
build-up of solids/sludge in tank
damaged pipework causing recirculation

Solution:

ensure float switch is free to move up and down
clean out tank/remove build up from float
check pipework is intact

High level alarm activated

Possible Cause:

the pump has stopped working
high-level alarm float stuck in the up position

Solution:

check pump is electrically sound or not blocked with debris
free high-level alarm and ensure the free range of motion

Bad odour emitted from tank

Possible Cause:

odour filter has expired
lid gasket has perished
a build-up of solids within the tank

Solution:

install gate/isolation valve on discharge of tank and close to 50%

Water draining back into tank once pump turns off

Possible Cause:

agitation hole located in hex nipple before check valve
syphoning from discharge point

Solution:

intended design to allow constant movement of solids within tank
anti-syphon kit required to break water flow back into tank

FAULT FINDING

How often should a HYLIFT 40 / HYLIFT 70 be serviced?

The maintenance of your pump system varies with every installation depending on usage, quality of the inflow and the application. The HYLIFT 40 and HYLIFT 70 Undersink pumps must be serviced on a regular basis to ensure reliable and efficient operation, lack of maintenance may result in premature failures. Actual service intervals will vary according to the application that the unit has been installed in. (see below)

What happens if the high-level alarm is activated?

Units are fitted with a high-level alarm (HYLIFT40 is optional). This panel will emit an audible alarm once the high-level float has been activated. In the event of this being activated, isolate unit and phone ALL PURPOSE PUMPS on 03 8368 0000 for assistance.

How often should the Odour Filter be replaced?

Systems are fitted with a HYLIFT-OF odour filter, these require replacement at least every 12 months.

How to install a new Odour Filter?

What are the following components that are needed for hard ventilation connection to a HYLIFT system?

APP recommends using the following components in combination for hard ventilation connection:

  • DN50 Plug and waste DWV (Male Thread)
  • DN50 Elbow or socket DWV (Female Thread)
  • DN50 Flexible coupling with hose clamps

Pump starts up when tank is full but does not pump water out

  • Pump is most likely airlocked – Open nut and tail, start pump (water should come out), replace nut and tail and water should be pumped out
  • Is this its first operation? Most likely just air from installation
  • If it had been working, most likely syphoning. Install anti-syphon kit or drill hole in nipple before check valve (on underside)
  • If this does not solve issue, check pump is rated correctly – may be too small
  • If pump from nut and tail but not when connected, most likely valve or other blockages in the line
  • If pump has been running airlocked for a long time, it may be burnt out. Pump needs to be replaced

Pump starts up when tank is full but does not pump water out

  • Is float stuck in up position? Can be caused by solids on top solidifying around float
  • Float may be faulty – Pump or float needs to be replaced

Pump does not start when tank is full

  • Is float stuck beneath layer of solid or any other obstruction?
  • Pump can be quiet and may be running but can’t hear it. This would be case of first issues above (not pumping down)
  • Is power on?
  • Pump may be burnt out. The pump will need to be replaced.
