FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Water Pressure Systems
No water to toilets/irrigation on tank water
Possible Cause:
| pump fault | |
| discharge valve closed | |
Solution:
| switch system off/on to check pump runs |
| ensure discharge valve is open |
Low pressure to toilets/irrigation
Possible Cause:
| filters blocked | |
| pump air locked | |
Solution:
| replace filters | |
| de airlock pump via bled point | |
System in alarm/fault
Possible Cause:
| UV lamp expired |
| Filter block fault |
| pressure switch fault |
Solution:
| replace UV lamp | |||||
| replace filters | |||||
| check discharge pipework for damage/confirm the system is making setpoint | |||||
System on mains bypass
Possible Cause:
| insufficient water in the supply tank |
| low-level float caught up inside the tank |
Solution:
| leave system on mains until rain tops up tank |
| re position float to ensure free range of motion |
System constantly cycling on/off
Possible Cause:
| leak in discharge line | |
| faulty pressure switch | |
Solution:
| isolate and repair leak | |
| check pressure switch operation | |
No water to toilets/irrigation on mains water
Possible Cause:
| solenoid valve not allowing water past |
| discharge valve closed |
Solution:
| ensure solenoid is not manually closed | |
| ensure the discharge valve is open | |
Cold Water Booster (CWB)
Pump in drive fault
Possible Cause:
| VSD fault |
| disruption to the incoming power supply |
Solution:
| Switch the controller off via the main isolator, wait 15 seconds and switch it back on. |
No pressure to building
Possible Cause:
| system in pipe fill fault | |
| disruption to the incoming water supply to the system | |
Solution:
| leak in discharge pipework | |
| reinstate incoming supply | |
Loud noise coming from pump/s
Possible Cause:
| bearing failure | |
| pump running dry | |
Solution:
| isolate pump to prevent further damage | |
| check incoming supply | |
Level transducer showing incorrect reading
Possible Cause:
| plastic protection cap on the base of the transducer | ||
| faulty transducer | ||
| supply tank empty | ||
| transducer not set correctly in tank | ||
Solution:
| remove the plastic cap to give an accurate reading | |||
| replace transducer | |||
| ensure supply tank has sufficient water | |||
| ensure transducer is set at approx. 100-150mm off the bottom of the tank | |||
Condensation build-up in water trap
Possible Cause:
| Trap requires draining periodically |
Solution:
| Drain water from trap regularly |
Pumps not achieving setpoint
Possible Cause:
| pumps running backwards | |
| air trapped in impeller stack | |
Solution:
| rewire incoming supply to change pump direction |
| open bled point until a solid stream of water with no air is coming out |
Pumps not switching off
Has the system been commissioned? (If not and it is required; it needs to be commissioned first)
If the system pressure is above the set point;
- Are the pumps set to automatic mode?
- Is the sleep setting correct? (pump idle speed against dead head)
- Is the manual overide circuit breaker turned on? (it should be off)
If the system pressure is below the set point;
- Are pumps rated correctly to flow and pressure requirements?
- Is there adequate water supply to the pumps? (tank has water or mains is open)
- Are PID settings correct?
Check other settings such as sleep time, high/low pressure fault, operarating mode (tank, boost, etc…)
Has the air been bled from the pump?
Screen not displaying correctly or cannot adjust pump speed in manual
- Is the manual overide circuit breaker switched on? (It should be off)
- Screen may be faulty – replace screen
System cycling on and off
- Is the accumulator tank charged to correct pressure? (70% of set point for VSD)
- Are the PID settings correct? (may need to adjust these settings to get correct response – see PID descriptions to adjust correctly – make one change at a time and revert back if no good)
- Is the pump rated correctly for incoming mains and boost? (too big of a pump could cause cycling)
- If pressure continues dropping after pump turns off (but still cycles); issue will be sleep setting (set point and time) or pump selection
System reaches pressure but no or little pressure at tap
- Are pumps rated correctly?
- Are all valves open up to tap?
- Is there a blockage in the line?
MOST COMMON ISSUES
- Manual overide circuit breaker turned on causing strange things to happen (cannot adjust speed, display incorrect, pump not responding to set point)
- Leaks – need to attend site to rectify (identify exact location so correct parts are taken)
