PROJECT: BOTTLING PROCESS TRADE WASTE SYSTEM IN SOUTHEAST MELBOURNE

All Purpose Pumps have developed an innovative trade waste treatment facility for utilization for a major spring water bottling process located in Melbourne’s southeast. The application presented numerous challenges to treating the waste to acceptable standards for disposal as trade waste to Southeast Water’s specifications. Trade waste from the site process is generated at varying temperatures, often exceeding process and disposal temperature limitations. Therefore, the process must be designed for and accommodate sufficient holding volumes to accommodate the varying operational conditions. We developed the process in house in conjunction with our chemical engineering partners. Initial commissioning was completed in less than a day and the plant was left on-line, certified, and operational in rapid time. Process controls and practical design allow:
  • sufficient flexibility to enable a vast range of operational parameters
  • allow for treatment adjustments to suit a widely varying set of potential scenarios.

The plant is data logged continuously for full data download at 1-minute intervals and the data logger battery life is five years. Out of range alarms and responses are logical as are the systemic controls to inhibit out of specification effluent disposal. The plant is connected to the site BMS system and also has local visual and audible alarms. Chemical handling is sensible and practical with facilities to enable clear and safe transfer with minimal operational risk. Probes and devices requiring routine service and maintenance are logically installed with access in mind at all times. The system is installed and operates in an area open to the atmosphere and weather.
