System in alarm/fault
Possible Cause:
| UV lamp expired |
| Filter block fault |
| pressure switch fault |
Solution:
| replace UV lamp | |||||
| replace filters | |||||
| check discharge pipework for damage/confirm the system is making setpoint | |||||
System on mains bypass
Possible Cause:
| insufficient water in the supply tank |
| low-level float caught up inside the tank |
Solution:
| leave system on mains until rain tops up tank |
| re position float to ensure free range of motion |
System constantly cycling on/off
Possible Cause:
| leak in discharge line | |
| faulty pressure switch | |
Solution:
| isolate and repair leak | |
| check pressure switch operation | |
No water to toilets/irrigation on mains water
Possible Cause:
| solenoid valve not allowing water past |
| discharge valve closed |
Solution:
| ensure solenoid is not manually closed | |
| ensure the discharge valve is open | |
Excessive flooding around system
Possible Cause:
| pipework leaks within system |
| auto backwash filter not connected to drain |
| pump running backwards causing damage to pipework |
Solution:
| repair pipework (by APP or customer dependant on the cause of the issue) |
| ensure the backwash filter hose is run & secured in the drain |
| confirm pump is wired correctly to ensure setpoint can be achieved (3ph only) |
Buzzing noise within control panel
Possible Cause:
| faulty relay |
Solution:
| replace relay if necessary |
Pump not switching off
- What pressure is the gauge at? (check this pressure against pressure switch settings)
- If pressure below off pressure for switch; has pump been primed? Prime Pump
- If pressure is above off pressure for the switch – either switch not set correctly in factory of switch is faulty. Send tech to rectify if customer not willing to adjust
- If priming works initialy but then problem reoccurs; is there a leak in the suction pipework? Is there a foot valve? Is debri stuck in foot valve?
- Is there water in the tank? If not; is the float set correctly? Set correctly and reprime.
- If vertical multistage pumps are used; float must be set to keep water level in tank above pump if check valves are on the discharge side. Otherwise air will get into pump stack
Wiring
- All wiring (apart from power supply and pump to capacitor) should be completed in factory (customer can disconnect to run through conduit if required)
- Submersible pump – pump wires to capacitor through spare second cable gland (diagram inside capacitor box), capacitor wires to presscontrol, presscontrol wires to controller
- Floats – Use black and brown wires and connect to labelled terminals in controller
- Using dual pump controllers (as opposed to rains/mains) – refer to manual for dip switch settings for required application – should all be factory set
- Power supply – Polycarbonate enclosures have a plug for GPO and all others need power supplied to labelled terminals. Give the electrician full load current of pumps so they can use appropriate cable size.
- BMS Connections – general fault from controller, auto backwash filter has BMS (check manual), UV requires BMS module – other BMS outputs would be from custom design
Pump Turning off/on Rapidly
- Check the pressure of the accumulator tank (should be 90% of on pressure setting for DOL starters – 70% for VSD)
- What is this pump supplying? Check pressure and flow requirements. Dripper systems can sometimes cause cycling but should not be so rapid.
- Ensure pressure and flow requirements are within pump curve
Pump reaches pressure on gauge but no water or low pressure at tap/destination
- Are the filters dirty/clogged?
- Are any valves closed between pump and destination?
- Is there a blockage in the line between pump and destination?
- If on mains water; is mains sufficient for application?
System does not use tank water
- Is there water in the tank?
- Is the float plugged in or terminated correctly?
- Is the float set correctly inside the tank?
Issue with UV or Auto Backwash
- Are they plugged into GPO and switched on?
- What fault code is displayed? Match to fault in manual for unit.
- UV lamps will need to be replaced once per year and will fault after one year of operation.
- Have had issues with UV ballast in past which shows that the lamp has failed (only need to replace ballast and not lamp)
- Is auto backwash filter controller in correct position (if rotated 90 degrees it will manually backwash
- Is backwash screen clogged? Remove and clean.
- Switch auto filter of and on to manually backflush
Filter blocked alarm but filters have been changed or are clean
Is filter blocked gauge needle set to around 100kPa (max). Often these get fiddled with and set to zero so alarm is always active. Backwash filter may require Manual cleaning.
Big Blue X100B filter is leaking at lid
- These lids are not very good, check oring is seated correctly and not pinched anywhere. Lid must also not be over tightened. Has an arrow on ot that should line up with the discharge outlet
- O’ring is often misplaced or falls out when lid is removed.
Press control faulting
- Is “power on” light on?
- Push restart button.
- Open discharge tap, hold down restart button until red fault light turns off then release button. Pressure should then reach set point and pump turn off.
DIVERSION SYSTEMS
Compressor constantly cycling
Possible Cause:
| leaks in airline feeding valve |
| leaks in compressor unit/components |
Solution:
| ensure all connections from the skid to the valve are sealed |
| check for leaks and re-tape if necessary |
Butterfly valve not opening/closing
Possible Cause:
| valve misaligned on stub flanges |
| tolerance between valve and stub flanges too close |
Solution:
| loosen bolts on the valve and realign to allow full range of motion |
| the chamfer of stub flange material required |
Condensation build-up in water trap
Possible Cause:
| Trap requires draining periodically |
Solution:
| Drain water from trap regularly |
