Dominator - Fire Pump Systems
What are fire pumps?
Fire pumps are used as a key safety measure in various buildings throughout Australia. They’re an essential part of firefighting, using a pressure pump to provide water to a sprinkler system. These pumps ensure your building’s fire protection system has sufficient water pressure, distributing water so that every part of the building is protected in case of a fire.
All Purpose Pumps has a wide selection of electric and diesel fire pumps at competitive prices. Our experienced consultants can advise you on fit-for-purpose solutions, from design through delivery.
What are the different types of fire pumps?
Fire pumps usually run on either electric or diesel. An electric pump needs to be connected to a mains system, but there’s no need to worry about fuel storage. Because of this, many people view electric fire pumps as the most convenient option.
A diesel fire pump has more requirements, including fuel storage and higher maintenance considerations. However, it doesn’t come with high electrical costs.
Pump engines
In order to power a fire pump, you need a pump engine. This helps to ensure there is sufficient water pressure to distribute water to sprinkler systems in the case of an emergency.
Our wide range of premium engines are fire-fighting units, built to aid in fire security. They are available in nine types, ranging from 21KW to 380KW.
Key features:
- Engineered for reliability and efficiency
- Multi-cylinder engine for smooth power delivery
- Oil pressure sender included to keep you informed
- Guards fitted to all rotating parts for additional safety
- Trusted by Australians for more than 30 years

Fire pumps: what do I need to know?
Fire pumps are an important purchase. Here’s an overview of four key considerations.
Diesel vs electric
Start by determining which system will work best for the building where it’s being used. Do you have the storage for fuel tanks? Do you have room in your budget for additional electric costs? This will help you decide whether a diesel or electric fire pump is the right choice.
Size
The larger the building, the bigger the fire pump you’ll need. They’ll require extra power to ensure the right amount of pressure is provided. All fire pumps should specify the type of building they’re suitable for, including size.
Purpose
Some pumpsets are specifically designed for sprinklers. Others are made to supply water pressure to hoses. When choosing a pumpset, make sure you’re purchasing the right type.
