Rainwater Diversion Systems

Rainwater Diversion System

A rainwater diversion system takes water from the gutters on your roof and diverts it to a storage tank. It’s an environmentally-friendly way of collecting free rainwater for use at a later date, such as for watering outdoor garden beds during dry summer days or hosepipe bans.

Rainwater diversion systems (also known as stormwater diversion systems) also help prevent flooding during a storm.

If you need a system to help with rain harvesting, you’re in the right place. We supply a wide range of innovative products for water treatment needs and projects.

What are the different types of rainwater diversion systems?

We have three different types of rainwater diversion systems, all made to help with water treatment and management. Here’s a detailed breakdown of each one.

1. First Flush & Tank Full Diversion System

The First Flush & Tank Full Diversion System is ideal for handling the initial surge of rainfall, diverting the ‘first flush’ of water mixed with debris from your roof and making sure only quality water enters the storage tank.

Suitable for both commercial and domestic buildings, this flush system uses an optical moisture detector to sense rainfall, with a valve that automatically closes when the tank is full. It also comes with 20m of flexible pneumatic drive line tubing for easy installation and maintenance.

With an anti-tamper, weatherproof cover, the entire system is securely protected and comes in a range of sizes, with customisable options also available.

Additional details:

  • Pipework range: 100mm, 150mm, 225mm, 300mm
  • Level sensor: HYFLOW® differential float level switch
  • Further reading: Datasheet

2. HYSAVE Diversion System

For a heavy-duty stormwater system, look no further than the HYSAVE Diversion System. Built for commercial applications, this water diverter can help improve irrigation and prevent flooding, making it the perfect choice for large office buildings, construction, landscaping, and more.

The HYSAVE Diversion System also comes with a failsafe, ensuring the water tank never overfills in the event of a power cut or cable disconnection.

What sets this rainwater diversion system apart is that it comes with both first flush and redundancy options, with redundancy offering an extra layer of flood protection, thanks to its backup valve.

Additional details:

  • Pipework range: 100mm (DWV), 150mm (DWV), 225mm (DWV), 300mm (DWV), 110mm (HDPE), 160mm (HDPE), 250mm (HDPE), 315mm (HDPE)
  • Level sensor: HYFLOW® differential level sensor
  • Further reading: Datasheet

3. Tank Full Diversion System

The Tank Full Diversion System has everything you could need for effective rainwater harvesting and diversion, allowing you to collect water and reuse it as you see fit.

Unlike the other two options on our list, it doesn’t come with first flush diversion, but the diversion valve will automatically close when the storage tank is full.

It’s built to last, with a ductile iron body and galvanised steel floor for a rainwater diversion system that you can rely on.

Additional details:

  • Pipework range: 100mm, 150mm, 225mm, 300mm
  • Level sensor: HYFLOW® differential float level switch
  • Further reading: Datasheet

Rainwater diversion systems: what do I need to know?

The most important thing to look for when buying a rainwater diversion system is a failsafe. All of our rainwater diversion systems have a valve that closes when your storage tank is full, as well as anti-tamper and weather covers for added safety and security.

Consider whether or not you need a first flush diversion system, as this will add an extra layer of filtration that will get rid of debris and other contaminants, ensuring only clean rainwater is stored in your tank. Two of our products have this feature, with the First Flush & Tank Full Diversion System also featuring a rain sensor to help with this process.

Finally, manufacturing is key. You want a sturdy and reliable rainwater diversion system, which is why ours are made using robust materials. This includes an iron body, stainless steel disc, and EPDM seat, all mounted on a galvanised steel floor for superior durability.
